For Democrats to win back control of the Senate (if not expand such a majority), they will need to pick up the seat up in Texas held by Senator John Cornyn.

Despite his so-called "moderate bonafides," John Cornyn has enabled the Trump agenda and joined in the systematic transformation of the United States into an elite oligarchy with culture war distractions. It ironically leaves him vulnerable to a primary challenge from Ken Paxton in 2026.

Cristina Tzintzun Ramirez can be the one to beat him this time around, doing very well in the Rio Grande Valley during the 2020 Senate primary. She is a widely recognized Texas activist and organizer for youth civic engagement, empowering women in politics, registering Latino voters, and standing in solidarity with labor unions and workers all across the country. From NextGen America to Jolt, Tzintzun Ramirez is leading the next generation, and more importantly, encouraging them to participate in our system.

She would be a tremendous fighter in the Senate for universal healthcare, bold climate action, a renewable, abundant energy portfolio, expansion of public education opportunities, college affordability, labor rights, consumer protections, veterans' services, abortion access, firearms responsibility, comprehensive immigration reform, and voting rights.
