Draft Yvette Simpson to Run for Senate in 2022!
Yvette Simpson is a progressive force and would be the perfect person to represent the state of Ohio in the United States Senate. At a time when Ohio politics are at their most toxic, thanks to a an extremist Republican stronghold on this state, we need a strong advocate like Yvette who will fight for Ohio's families and our futures while working to advance the Biden-Harris administrations big, bold agenda for working families across the country.
Why is this important?
As head of Democracy for America, Yvette has lead the charge on progressive, inclusive policy issues such as Medicare For All, fighting for a $15 minimum wage, ending mass incarceration, and protecting reproductive rights, all things that would directly benefit the people of Ohio, our families, and our economy.
Sen. Rob Portman has announced he will not seek re-election in 2022. Both he, and the Republicans whose names are being tossed around to possibly replace him, have all spent the past 4 years marching in lock-step with the authoritarian, xenophobic, and downright seditious Trump administration. America has turned the page on Trump and his enablers, and it's time for Ohio to do the same.
In 2018, Yvette was the Federal Elections Manager for Democracy For America and helped Democrats make history in the 2018 midterms and take back the House. As a Senator, I have no doubt that she'll do the same and she'll have help from Ohio's senior U.S. Senator (and one of the most liberal/progressive members of the U.S. Senate, Sherrod Brown).
It's important that we show up early and loudly so that Yvette knows she has the grassroots support she needs for a historic senate run.
