EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE IN THE PACIFIC

Pacific Ocean is the largest ocean which occupies 2/3 of the world and very important geography for marine communities. North Pacific Ocean 11,022 metres below sea level, represents the deepest point on sea level. Moreover, the Pacific has the most diverse marine communities ( West and East Pacific). Climate change and frequent cycle of ENSO ( El Niño Southern Ossicillation) has driven many marine wild life and has dispersed to different places. El Niño & La Niña bring the wind of change ➡️ direction of the wind. The number of storm & hurricane have increased (above Average annually) according to NOAA weather forecast and POW weather forecast. Because of the rising temperature of surface sea level, many places are experiencing severe weather storms. Tsunami is common in the East Pacific region ( seismic zone) Japan 🇯🇵 , Australia 🇦🇺 , Thailand 🇹🇭 , China 🇨🇳 and neighboring Polynesian islands.
Cycle of La Niña has brought drought spells in the West Pacific California for several months and Flood in the East Pacific

Why is this important?

The Pacific is where huge current in the ocean 🌊 is affected by ENSO , inarguably change direction of the Jet stream from East to West. Many species have been affected by frequent changes of ENSO cycle and rising temperature on land 🌲 and ocean 🌊 has worsen overtime . Marine communities follow water current, many orcas have dispersed and lost direction in warm temperatures and forcing to colder regions.
East Pacific, Polynesian islands are experiencing warmer temperature sea surface level and are concerned of Tsunami.
