We call on Congress to change the rules of the budget process so that the government continues to be funded under the current budget until Congress and the President pass and sign a new budget.
Why is this important?
The 35 day shutdown of the federal government was enormously destructive. This is no way to negotiate our policy differences. Now while the personal, economic, environmental and political damage from the shutdown is fresh in everyone's minds it is time to take this destructive tactic off the table in American policymaking for good.
