End The Forever War
Veterans, military families, and their supporters are calling on members of Congress to pledge that they will finally bring an end to the decades-long, ever-expanding U.S. military conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Yemen, and dozens of other countries. We call these conflicts The Forever War, and it's time to end it.
Why is this important?
The United States has been in a state of continuous, global, open-ended military conflict since 2001. We have been at war for so long that Americans born 17 years ago can now enlist to fight in a war that began before they were born.
These wars have had devastating consequences for the military community, our nation, and the whole planet. As veterans and military families, we are tired of endless war, and we are asking our leaders to pledge that they will bring these wars to an end.
We are also demanding that Congress reclaim its powers of oversight on matters of foreign policy. We cannot afford more reckless wars, and we need Democratic leaders who will boldly stand for a progressive, moral vision of U.S. involvement overseas.
