We call upon the Vatican leadership to rescind their document censuring LCWR and to begin a process of dialogue and respect for the sisters.
Why is this important?
We are calling on all people of truth and concern for justice and dignity to support the religious women (sisters/nuns) of the Catholic Church who have worked tirelessly for truth, justice, and helping the poor. Currently the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (roughly the leadership organization for 80% of the 57,000 sisters in the U.S.) have been censured by the Vatican, which means they are losing their appointed leaders, the policies, and framework for organizing their programs.
