Extend the Visa Program for Interpreters in Afghanistan

Victory! The creator of this petition declared the campaign a success. You can still sign the petition to show support.

Local national interpreters who aided Coalition Forces are still waiting on visas to enter the United States. The visa program is set to expire at the end of the year, and Taliban members will attack any families who helped Coalition Forces. Extend the visa program and immediately expedite any visas for interpreters who may be in danger.

Why is this important?

I deployed twice to Afghanistan and I served with local national interpreters who risk their lives to provide an invaluable service to our troops. They risked their lives for American forces, and as a result their families have become permanent targets of insurgents. We need to stand up and protect those who protected our service members by allowing them to obtain visas to enter the US.

Reasons for signing

  • It's disgraceful not offering citizenship to those who risked their lives to help US forces. It makes me ashamed as an American
  • these people first... then Syrians
  • ANY foreign national interpreters that assisted our troops while they were fighting in Iraq/Afghanistan, needs to be moved to the front of the immigration line. They don't need to wait 3 1/2 years to get approval. They need to be moved here immediately, then processed. As a vet, I am disgusted that this isn't happening for these people who willingly put themselves, and their family, in the line of fire so we could make it back alive.
