Extended hotel vouchers for San Diego flood victims

we successfully advocated for the extension of hotel vouchers for San Diego flood victims. The San Diego county Board of supervisors unanimously voted in support of extending hotel vouchers and funding three meals a day for an additional $9.6 million on top of the original $10 million that was allocated.

What needs to happen is an urgent extension of the hotel voucher program for an additional 90 days to assist community members affected and displaced by the recent flood. With the current program set to end on March 25th, there is a pressing need to ensure that individuals and families have a safe place to stay to prevent homelessness. By extending the program, we can provide vital support to those in need during this emergency situation. It's crucial that authorities take immediate action to address this pressing need and provide relief to our neighbors facing hardship.

Why is this important?

This needs to happen because there is an imminent risk of homelessness for many community members who have been affected and displaced by the flood. With the current hotel voucher program scheduled to end on March 25th, these individuals and families are at risk of losing their temporary shelter and being left without a place to stay. Extending the program for another 90 days will provide crucial support during this challenging time, offering a lifeline to those who are most vulnerable. By ensuring that people have a safe and stable living environment, we can help prevent further hardship and provide a foundation for recovery and rebuilding efforts.
