Facebook's sexist and racist review practices
Facebook exhibits bias on a daily basis against People of Color, Women, and the LGBTQ through unwarrented censorship.
Why is this important?
I am asking federal and state legislators to take action to address Facebook's discriminatory practice of bias against Minority Communities (People of Color, Women, and the LGBTQ). Facebook's employees consistently block and censor facebook participants that post comments that make Christian, White, Males, with right-wing political leanings uncomfortable. These comments are consistently tagged with being against community standards, yet when a second review is requested the second reviewer reposts the comment and restores the commenters account access. If the poster does not request a review, which is often the case the commenter is unnecessarily denied account access
In effect, facebook's employees with the lack of oversight by executive management have created "jim crow" practices to silence the voices of Minority Communities on social media. I and others have been repeatedly censured, blocked, or have comments removed simply because facebook's employees are uncomfortable with comments that address and call out racism, the criminality of the current administration and the privilege and entitlement White, European-Americans in the USA.
On December 23, I posted the comment " I look forward to the imprisonment of tRump and eventual execution for HIGH TREASON", after reading a second child had been died while illegally detained at the USA and Mexico border. My comment addressed this administration's possible treason, racist policies and incompetent execution of their duties. My comment was reported and the first reviewer stated it was against facebook's bullying policy and against community standards. My comment was based on the fact that execution is an accepted sentence for HIGH TREASON. At around 6:00 that evening I requested a secondary review. At a little past 11:30 pm facebook that night, I received an apology they got it wrong, they had reposted my comment and would restore my account access. My account was never restored because some facebook employees felt entitled to block my account. Everyday since 12/23/18, I requested through facebook's process that they need to again review their documentation and restore my account. Everyday for the last THIRTY DAYS my request was ignored. It was ignored because facebook's employees believe they are entitled to ignore citizens of the Minority Community, and especially Women of Color. AND KNEW NO ACTION WOULD BE TAKEN FOR THE CENSORSHIP OF A WOMEN OF COLOR BECAUSE THEY HAVE DECIDED TO SILENCE MINORITY VOICES!
I want both state and federal legislators to review facebook's documentation for their review process, and resulting actions based on race, color, and orientation. Based upon my experience and anecdotal comments from others, "Minority" (Women, People of Color, and LGBTQ) communities are ''policed" at highers rates than right-wing, White, Males on facebook. The verbal abuse, slurs, threats, and stalking allowed by this group on facebook is against community standards yet consistently allowed after review by facebook employees. And too often, the reporter is provided with the glib suggestion by the facebook employee to "block" the commenter has become the standard mode or operation for when "Minorities" report posts on facebook.
Please join me in ensuring Facebook is held accountable and their employees are not allowed to censor the voices of People of Color, Women and the LGBTQ community to enforce a Right-wing propaganda agenda. If you have also been subject to their employees sliding scale of review please share your story with your legislators
