Food assistance for children with food allergies

I am writing to you requesting help with an important matter that has recently hit my family very hard! We fall into an income bracket whereby our finances are considered too much to receive any assistance from agencies in the community, as well as, any government assistance, but it is too little to keep up with basic monthly expenses. We are a family of five and we have recently discovered that two of our three children have several food allergies, including wheat, egg, peanuts, and soy. While we are relieved to know what has been plaguing our children and keeping them so ill all this time, it has caused our grocery bill to double! We our literally hanging on by a thread to keep up with this increased bill, along with mortgage, utilities, gas, medical expenses, and car payments. These are just basic necessities! You see we don't have the money or the luxury to do anything extra and really enjoy the fruits of our hard labor. We just simply need a little help to survive life's basic necessities. Here's where I'm hoping you come in. We don't require or ask for a lot but if there is any legislature that you all can come up with and pass for the sake of families with children who have food allergies so that we might qualify for food stamps in our income bracket, that would sure help a lot. We cannot afford to take chances with our children's lives but we most certainly cannot afford the rising cost of food either! My husband and I both work 40 hours a week (my husband works more when his job allows) but we still need help. I really and truly hope this is something you all can work on and pass because just like we would benefit from food stamps or some other form of food assistance while dealing with these food allergies, I know there are several more families who would benefit from this as well. Please consider all I have stated in my plea to you and by all means, do some research on the economical and life-threatening impacts food allergies can have on families.
