Fund Veteran Healthcare—Keep Our Promise

Dear Members of Congress,
I’m writing to demand that you fulfill the promise this country made to its veterans. Our government asks young men and women to risk their lives in service—and in return, promises to care for them when they come home. That promise is being broken.
Too many veterans face long wait times, inadequate mental health services, denied benefits, and bureaucratic roadblocks. This failure isn’t due to lack of money—it’s due to misplaced priorities. Billions are spent on defense contractors and administrative waste, while the very people who served are left behind.
Worse still, many of the lawmakers who claim to “support the troops” have voted against critical funding for veteran housing, suicide prevention, and mental health programs.
It’s time for that hypocrisy to end.
Here’s what must happen:
- Fully fund the Department of Veterans Affairs and ensure access to quality, timely care.
- Increase mental health resources for veterans, including crisis support and long-term care.
- Hold lawmakers accountable who vote against veteran programs while claiming to honor service.
This is not a partisan issue—it’s a moral one. Veterans deserve more than parades and promises. They deserve action.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
Why is this important?
If someone risks their life for their country, they should never have to fight again for basic healthcare, housing, or dignity.
I care because I’ve seen too many veterans come home broken—physically, emotionally, spiritually—only to be ignored by the system that sent them into danger. We hear “support the troops” at every rally, every political event… but when it’s time to fund services, they’re forgotten.
Did you know that 17 veterans die by suicide every day in the U.S.? Or that thousands are homeless, untreated for PTSD, or stuck in endless red tape just trying to access care?
Meanwhile, defense contractors get richer, and politicians give speeches.
This is personal for every American. These men and women fought for us. Now we must fight for them.
Sign this petition to demand Congress stop breaking its promises. Our veterans deserve more than words—they deserve results.
