The OmniPod is a wireless & tubeless insulin pump. All other insulin pumps require a tube connected to your stomach with the other end of the tube connected to a meter that delivers the insulin to your body. This meter must be with your body at all times attached to your clothing some how.
Why is this important?
I am a type 1 diabetic. I wear an insulin pump with a tube attached to my stomach that delivers insulin. The other end of this tube is connected to a meter that I have to wear all the time. I'm constantly trying to find a place to keep my meter. I wore the OmniPod before my insurance changed. I miss the freedom of not having a tube coming out of my stomach going to a meter that I have to wear all the time. It's like having an anchor attached to you 24/7.
