Gloucester Harbormaster's Station
At Tuesday's July 24th City Council meeting the City will request a $1.6 million loan to develop the Gloucester harbormaster's building into a boating center for tourists. The proposal is narrow in scope. In support of public access for residents, this should be expanded to a dual purpose boating center for residents who want to row and sail in the harbor. Cape Ann Community Boating is positioned to provide this service for the community to row and sail. If you are in favor of funding a dual purpose center for the benefit residents and visiting yachters you can attend the public hearing at 7 pm. Sign the petition to support Community Boating at the harbormaster's station with this funding request.
Why is this important?
Cape Ann Community Boating is a non-profit working closely with the City of Gloucester and private donors to create a public boating center on Cape Ann. The plan is to provide small watercraft, such as sailboats and rowboats, so that residents of our area can have affordable access. Membership is designed to be available to anyone who is interested. It is our belief that through working with individuals and families in Cape Ann, we can promote environmental stewardship and healthy living by helping people stay active and connected with their community and surroundings. Cape Ann is known for its heritage, vibrant communities and devotion to the sea. Cape Ann Community Boating will help preserve this great tradition. Contact [email protected]
