Gov. Nixon: Thank you for vetoing 72-hour waiting period!
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon vetoed a new bill to make women wait a full three days before being allowed to have an abortion, calling it "insulting to women" and showing a "callous disregard" for victims of rape and incest.
This is an amazing victory for choice in the South, and a strong message of support for women who would have been forced to prolong their trauma as assault survivors by an uncaring government.
But there's still a chance the Missouri legislature could try to override Nixon's veto — which is why we need to show a huge groundswell of support for his decision now!

Why is this important?
By vetoing the "72-hour waiting period" bill, Gov. Jay Nixon supported the rights and health of Missouri women over the interference of anti-choice lawmakers.
