Governor Nixon and Director Kincade should stop the plan to downsize and consolidate the Family Support Division and should hold public hearings to answer questions and get citizens' input.
Throughout Missouri's counties, clients should have equal opportunities to access critical social services.
Why is this important?
The Missouri Department of Social Services has begun to reduce and consolidate field offices of the Family Support Division (FSD) with a reduction of over 700 employees. As a result, many counties will have no offices to which people can go to access case workers and on-site assistance. It appears that the largest population centers in the state (St. Louis City and County, St. Charles County and Jackson County) will be without any FSD offices. This is difficult to understand.
