Governor Quinn, sign the medical marijuana law!
The medical benefits of cannabinoids, the active ingredient in marijuana are expanding rapidly. Pain and appetite modulation in cancer patients, slowing of Alzheimer's disease, neuro protection in glaucoma and other neuro-degenerative diseases, anti cancer and atherosclerosis properties are strongly suggested in pier reviewed studies. A reasonable and conservative bill has been passed by both houses in Illinois and only needs Governor Quinn's signature to allow Doctors to legally prescribe this safe and beneficial drug.
Why is this important?
I am a physician licensed in the state of Illinois. I believe many of my patients must forgo the benefit or buy illegally this beneficial and otherwise harmless substance. It is currently classified as a class 1 narcotic with no benefit. This is the list; heroin, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), marijuana (cannabis), 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (ecstasy), methaqualone, and peyote. This is clearly wrong.
