Graveyard Rights
I am a mother of an 8 month old baby who was buried at Oak Grove cemetery on October 17, 2021. At the time we were not notified that we were not allowed to place anything on her grave we are not the only people who have had issues with this I know a few parents who have their children buried out there and as a grieving mother us being able to place things on our daughters grave is the only thing we have left. It is our way of continuing her memory. It is our way of connecting with her and being able to celebrate, birthdays, and holidays that she was unable to celebrate. I would like to start this petition in hopes that we can change some of the rules and be able to place things on our loved ones graves within reason and not have the cemetery groundskeeper or the men that come out there to mow the lawns throw our stuff away. It is very disrespectful. It is very heartbreaking and it is not right.
Why is this important?
It is very important that people join in on this so that we can possibly change the policy in the regulations of the cemetery so that friends and family can continue to celebrate their loved ones life and celebrate who they were when they were here because this is the only way we know how to do that This is the only way we have left to celebrate these important times with our deceased loved ones.
