Gregg Amore for Governor

Rhode Islanders need a third choice for Governor in the Democratic primary. That is very clear now.

One one side, we have Governor Dan McKee, a man who cannot even set up 45 pallet shelters without year-long delays and postponements and bureaucratic incompetence. That is the tip of inaction on housing for years.

But there is more.

This is a man whose personnel, from Tony Silva to David Patten and James Thorsen, fall into political scandal and drag the rest of the state government with it.

This is a Governor who has been inactive while the Education Commissioner wrecks the Providence Public School District, is proposing horrible budget cuts to programs and services like RIPTA, and is expanding the corporate welfare administration in Rhode Island. Plus, he is continuing to stay silent on the long-term neglect and carnage of the disastrous Raimondo Administration.

Not to mention the Washington Bridge and RI Bridges.

As for the other candidate, former CVS Health executive Helena Foulkes pumped the opioids like crazy into Rhode Island communities and communities all across this country. It is why the US Attorney of the District of Rhode Island is suing CVS and why several state attorneys general (including New York) have filed lawsuits over the years against CVS for instigating the opioid and fentanyl epidemics in their neck of the woods.

She also defended the 38 Studios gaming company that cost Rhode Island taxpayers $75 million, as well as donated to Senate Republicans, and served on the board of the MAGA Home Depot executive team. She is so close with former Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo that political insiders even call her "Raimondo 2.0."

These are not the people who should lead my home state. We deserve better (almost literally anyone could do better).

RI Secretary of State Gregg Amore is the fighter we need.

Amore is on the frontlines advocating on behalf of our elections system, running them as smoothly and efficiently as could be possible, promoting civic education, toughening ethics and lobbying laws, backing the expansion of voting rights, and showcasing progressive values in the process. Amore has been a very open and honest figure as Secretary of State.

As a state lawmaker, Amore was known as a reliable ally for the labor movement and for school teachers all across Rhode Island, a trusted confidante and supporter of Rhode Island's small businesses on the East Bay, a consistent backer of true, bold campaign finance reform, and a crucial vote for investments into working Rhode Islanders on all issues from healthcare and housing to climate and education with RI's Fair Shot Agendas.

Gregg Amore is the progressive champion we need on Smith Hill. Sign this petition if you support this draft campaign.

Why is this important?

Rhode Island is in need of a new Governor and a strong candidate who can win election statewide in 2026.
