To: Hospitals in New York and Across the Country

Deliver necessary care to the patients you've sworn to serve—including trans youth!

A handful of hospitals, including NYU Langone, are suspending healthcare for transgender youth out of fear of Trump's malicious, anti-science, politically-driven edicts. And others, such as New York-Presbyterian, are taking pediatric gender care off its website.

Add your name to the petition to demand hospitals in New York and across the country serve trans youth and their families, follow the guidance of health professionals, and continue providing care.

Why is this important?

We know that people having the health care they deserve that care for transgender youth saves lives. Trump's executive orders endanger the health of trans youth—inserting politicians into decisions that should be made between families and their doctors. And hospitals need to continue offering those services while Trump's executive orders are rightfully challenged in court—because these EO's on their own do not hold up under scrutiny.

This is part of a larger campaign to demonize and harm transgender youth, disempower their parents, and undermine health care decisions for all. These go hand-in-hand with attacks on trans folks in military services, teachers who seek to support all their students, doctors who provide essential care, and parental rights to make supportive, thoughtful, safe decisions for their children.

The New York Attorney General Letitia James has warned hospitals that New York State law requires that they serve without discrimination. And suit has been filed to stop Trump's dangerous EOs. In the meantime, there is no reason to suspend care.

We all need to stand up to these attacks. We must refuse to comply in advance. Hospitals should do better—and put the needs of their patients first.
