Housing solution for Puerto Rican American evacuees
The evacuee population in and outside of Boston and around the nation have been residing under Transitional Shelter Assistance vouchers and private donor vouchers for 8 months. Looming deadlines for TSA vouchers has put the families and children under enormous stress. More tears have been shed than should be humanly possible with the consistent pending possibilities of losing their temporary homes and the fear that the children's school lives would be once again disrupted. Living in hotels is both costly and tumultuous. It is impossible to make permanent plans to rebuild their lives in a cohesive and dignified way.
The final deadline for the FEMA TSA voucher program is June 30th. When this program ends it will leave almost 2,500 Americans who have survived the ravages and devastation of the worst hurricane season the U.S has ever seen.
Senators Warren and Markey have introduced legislation to provide more permanent housing solutions for the evacuee families. We call on members of the United States Senate to expedite the passage of this legislation. Evacuee families need an answer to long term housing in order to end the post traumatic stress that is affecting their daily lives. This bill is reflective of the humane nation we strive to be.

Why is this important?
We Unite Organizations, Inc under our humanitarian program Human Rights Festival has been at the forefront of the battle for the humane and dignified treatment of Puerto Rican American evacuees residing stateside. We have worked with the population daily providing hands on humanitarian aide and in the areas of advocating.
An end to the Transitional Shelter Assistance is looming, as the final date is June 30th and legislation has been introduced to provide a more permanent solution for the evacuees nationwide. The Disaster Housing Assistance Program normally initiated by FEMA and administered by H.U.D has been denied for the less the 2,500 people remaining on TSA vouchers. This legislation is the ONLY solution left to this humanitarian crisis.
The evacuee population has no collective voice as they reside in different states around the nation. We ask the American people to collectively raise their voice in the disaster victims behalf.
