Jail for trying to vote

Pamela Moses, a Black Lives Matter activist in Shelby County, was recently sentenced to six years in prison for registering to vote while on probation for a felony. She was under the impression her probation had ended because the probation office confirmed it. Her name was still on the voter rolls. The probation office didn’t catch their error until after she registered to vote in 2019, but a judge ruled that she “tricked” them into giving her a document saying she was eligible to vote. Meanwhile, a white man in Las Vegas was sentenced to probation for voter fraud after he submitted a ballot in his dead wife’s name. There are two different justice systems in America, one for blacks and one for whites. Pamela Moses’ sentence is blatantly wrong and must be overturned. No one should imprisoned for attempting to vote!

Why is this important?

Not only is this proof of an unequal justice system in this country, but no one should ever be jailed for attempting to exercise their right to vote.
