Self-styled American Jewish leaders — like Abraham Foxman, Marvin Hier, Malcolm Hoenlein, Ronald Lauder, William Daroff, Alan Dershowitz, William Kristol, and Josh Block — don't speak for me or the vast majority of American Jews. Stop giving them a platform to behave as arbiters of Jewish values, acceptable discourse about Israel or anti-Semitism. Though a small community, Jews are an exceptionally diverse group with a broad range of political and religious beliefs between them. To treat any communal institution or leader as an authority with the power to speak on behalf of all Jews betrays this diversity and divergence of belief.
