Justice for Lorenzo Salgado Araujo
On July 7, 2026, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was shot and killed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
ICE agents have claimed that Lorenzo “weaponized” his vehicle, but eyewitness accounts contradict those reports. And the Trump administration has shown time and again that they will lie, spread misinformation, and retaliate in order to evade accountability for ICE’s violence and unlawfulness.
We are joining the family, advocates, community groups, and people across the country demanding a full and transparent investigation, including the release of all evidence in Lorenzo’s killing immediately.
Why is this important?
There were three passengers in the vehicle with Lorenzo when he was shot and killed by ICE agents. Two of them claim that ICE agents were never in any danger, and that the shots were fired from the side of the car, not the front.
And ICE agents aren’t even hiding the fact that Lorenzo wasn’t the person they were looking for. He was racially profiled, stopped, and killed for simply “resembling” the intended person.
Not only is DHS refusing to release evidence in Lorenzo’s case, they refuse to say if the agents involved are still on active duty or on leave. ICE agents should not be allowed to continue to terrorize communities and collect a paycheck after brutalizing our neighbors—but that seems to be the Trump administration’s method of operating.
In January, ICE agents in Minneapolis shot and murdered Renee Nicole Good. They claimed she “attempted to kill or cause bodily harm to federal law enforcement” with her car—but eyewitness footage blatantly contradicted their account. And agents used the same excuse in the shooting of Marimar Martine last year, which was also proven to be false.
Under the Trump administration, ICE has ramped up its attacks on communities across the country—with widespread reports of civil rights violations and harm. Multiple people have been killed by agents in Trump’s chaotic and reckless ICE raids, and video footage in those cases have frequently contradicted DHS reports. Even still, no agents have been charged in any of the deaths—a clear abuse of power and violation of public trust.
Nobody is safe as Trump’s ICE invades and occupies our cities, violates our rights, and acts with impunity. We have to hold them accountable. Add your name to the petition to demand a full investigation into the agents involved now.
