Keep Mesa Public Schools from moving SPED Programs
Mesa Public Schools has recently decided to consolidate many of their special needs programs. These changes create a hardship for these vulnerable students and are step back to what was once considered poor special education practices. We intend to be the voice for the voiceless and stop this decision that is harmful to the students educational goals. Many medically fragile students will endure lengthy non-purposeful bus rides. It has come to our attention that our special needs children have also been displaced within the district to make room for a new neighborhood preschool program that will be going into 35 campuses district-wide with paying students.
This blatant act of discrimination is not only harmful to the special needs students educational growth but also to their physical and emotional well being. Change is hard for this vulnerable population and will bring their growth to a standstill. This has devastating consequences to both students and their families.

Why is this important?
Our goal is to make sure that the district does not make any decision that has potentially harmful effects to the student by the placement of the programs.
