To: Lauren Underwood, Juliana Stratton, Dick Durbin, Illinois Democratic Party
Lauren Underwood for Senate, and/or Juliana Stratton for Governor

Senator Dick Durbin has served honorably as Illinois's US Senator and as a former longtime Congressman for Downstate. Senator Durbin will be remembered for a long time in his state as a political lion and legend.
The last step may be the inevitable one of passing the torch in 2026. In that case, I hope Congresswoman Lauren Underwood runs for US Senate because of her own unique experience as a federal government civil servant, and as a former registered nurse.
Congresswoman Underwood has been at the forefront of issues like addressing the maternal mortality crisis for black women and all women of color. She has been a policy leader for the expansion of healthcare access, guiding us towards our goal of a universal healthcare system. Thus, her healthcare experience has made her a devout supporter of reproductive access for women so they are not subject to life-endangering circumstances, as well as be a champion for gun safety.
Congresswoman Underwood has also supported bold initiatives like labor rights expansion with the PRO Act, consumer guardrails in the aftermath of the Silicon Valley Bank collapse, pandemic-era economic stimulus, local infrastructure and transportation projects, fair tax policies, a renewable energy portfolio alongside a green-collar jobs program, middle class tax credits, and accountability on private vouchers and for-profit charter schools.
Congresswoman Underwood would be a truly dynamic Senator for Illinois, just as Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton would be a strong chief executive for Illinois, with her experience in watershed protection, healthcare expansion, fiscal responsibility, women's financial literacy, and conflict resolution.
It is more important than ever to empower young talented leaders across the country like Underwood and others. Support this cause if you agree.

Why is this important?
Illinois is a ripe opportunity to elect a new generation of leadership in 2026.
