LIGHT DANGEROUSLY DARK BIKE PATH IN GROVE STREET NEIGHBORHOOD

The city of Gainesville must light a dangerously dark section of Hawthorne Trail in the Grove Street Neighborhood.
Specifically, the stretch between
NW 2nd Street and NW 8th Ave.

The extreme darkness increases the possibility of crime to persons utilizing the path as well as burglary of adjacent businesses, which has already occurred.

This path is heavily utilized by cyclists and pedestrians,
including the many patrons of Grove Street Farmers Market,
Cypress and Grove Brewery, Mo's Garage Salon Experience, Goodbike, Signs By Tomorrow, Afternoon Restaurant, Serpentine, Wildflowers Yoga, Working Food, Samurai Skateboard Park, Publix, Liv Athletic and Superette, just to name just a few.

We were told lack of funding delayed the project in the past, however, we assert Wild Spaces & Public Places monies can be used to fund this now.

Why is this important?

We are imploring that this lighting be installed immediately.
It is only a matter of time before something horrible happens.
To ignore this plea would be utter negligence.
