Llanite For State Rock
Dear Texas Legislature,
A problem has recently come to my attention. Texas has a state “rock”. Of course, this isn’t the issue. The issue lies with the fact that our state rock is, in fact, a fossil called Petrified Wood. I, as a proud Texan, was irreconcilably dismayed when I learned of this preposterousness. How can our state rock be a fossil? That just doesn’t make any sense to me. I, as a proud Texan, look to my state symbols to be representative of our pride, culture, and society. What I did not expect was to be confounded by the bewildering idea of our state rock being a fossil.
I would like to implore the Texas legislature, please fix this. What I suggest is to change Petrified Wood to our state fossil and to, instead, have Llanite as our state rock. My reasoning for this is simple. It’s extremely unique to Texas, completely representative of the uniqueness of Texas and its residents. It’s also a rock, not a fossil, which should help to dispel the confusion currently plaguing our state.
Thank you,
All Petitioners

Why is this important?
Because it just makes sense! Our state rock shouldn’t be a fossil!
