Massage Therapy is Essential one client at a time
On behalf of every Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) in the State of North Carolina, we strongly urge you to deem massage therapy an essential service and allow services to be performed beginning April 29th, 2020. All necessary precautions and sanitation protocols approved by the State of North Carolina, all applicable board of health regulations and all CDC recommendations will be followed. Servicing one client at a time while taking appropriate precautions poses little to no risk of spreading the virus as compared to 20 or more people in grocery stores or home improvement stores or other places of business that have been deemed "essential".
We believe that our clients have a fundamental right to receive the care they need during this nationwide crisis.
We believe that our clients have a fundamental right to receive the care they need during this nationwide crisis.
Why is this important?
The vast majority of our clients first come to us for a treatment plan, often referred by their primary care provider or chiropractor, and on-going massage therapy support. Massage is a medically endorsed practice which can be leveraged to treat individuals requiring long-term chronic pain management choices apart from opioid prescriptions, oncology massage, autoimmune disorder support, pre-natal, sciatic care, as well as many other conditions. Our clients, because of massage being treated as a luxury/personal service in E.O. 120 are left in pain, unable to get the care they need and unable to get into hospitals or their own PCPs and are left with no options. We field these distressed phone calls on a daily basis from these clients desperate for information on when we will be allowed to re-open.
How it will be delivered
The signatures will be delivered via email directly to Gov. Cooper as well as our states senators.
