Don't Hide From Constituents. Host Town Halls!
%20(31).png)
The next congressional recess is scheduled for March 15—a time for members of Congress to return to their home states. They should be using this week to meet with their constituents, hear their concerns, and take that back to D.C.
The last recess was contentious, with Republicans facing heat in many of their districts from constituents upset at the chaos of the Trump administration and unelected billionaire Elon Musk’s power grabs.
Now, with Medicare and Medicaid funding on the chopping block along with other necessary funding, it is as important as ever that elected officials face the people they are supposed to represent.
Add your name to the petition to tell members of Congress: Don’t hide from your constituents! Demand they host town hall meetings or office hours during the next congressional recess.
Why is this important?
Town halls are ways for constituents to provide feedback directly to their elected officials to make sure that their concerns and expectations are heard.
When Republicans returned to their districts in February, they were met with the full force of their constituents’ frustrations. They should be taking in that feedback and returning to D.C. to do their job addressing the needs, concerns, and demands of the people they were elected to represent.
But instead, they're planning on hiding from their constituents in the upcoming recess, while they continue to ram through Trump and Musk’s wildly unpopular and disastrous plans, slashing services and funding that everyday people need, and giving tax breaks to their billionaire friends.
Not on our watch.
We need to remind members of Congress who they answer to.
Not Trump.
Not Musk.
Not just a few billionaires.
Sign the petition to make it clear to Congress that come recess, we expect them to host town halls and office hours, because they answer to the people.
