Mental Health Services, Not Gun Control.

Investigate what works and empower the mental health service and response system in our communities, local, state and national, to prevent and cope with the emotional turmoil, stress and crises that lead to violent public responses. Gun control is a band-aid to a social emotional problem; focus energy and resources towards finding a way to support, counsel and heal both individuals and communities. Hopefully, we can prevent the next tragedy by coming together as communities.

Why is this important?

The tragedy in Connecticut may not be about gun control; this may be about dealing with mental health and illness issues. We need to call on local, state and federal government to work together to empower, support and enliven the mental health services in our communities. I still believe in the power of community, education and outreach.
