Given the sad state of affairs surrounding the current nominee for the Supreme Court, we would like to recommend that the President drop Brett Kavanaugh and renominate Merrick Garland.
Merrick Garland is eminently qualified, scandal free, and ready to serve. His previous nomination was unjustly not brought to a vote by Senator Mitch McConnell an act unprecedented in modern legal history. As Mitch McConnell has said, the American people should have a say in the court's direction. We, the people, want Merrick Garland.
Why is this important?
The Supreme Court is taking a dangerous swing to the hard right politically. We have seen Citizen's United passed, the weakening of labor protections, and women's rights are in extreme danger. It is time to send a message to Congress and the President that the American people want a different direction.
