Missouri: Universal Background Checks for Gun Purchases

Congresspeople, the people of Missouri need you to take a stand by enacting a law that requires universal background checks. To illustrate, in the last four years alone Missouri has seen literally hundred of people lose their lives and/or even get injured by guns in situations that *did not** involve self-defense, which means that the Second Amendment is not a valid reason to not act on this problem because of the court decision known as District of Columbia vs. Heller.

Why is this important?

Out of all the guns that are sold in private sales (in other words, every gun that is sold here in the USA by anyone other than a licensed gun dealer), 80% of them end up being used to commit crimes at some point. This statistic clearly shows us the reality of how necessary background checks truly are. To be frank, I'm not sure why anyone would be against a measure like this, given that the vast majority of background checks are completed within two minutes and the fact that Missouri law does not forbid many groups of individuals from having guns.
