Mitch McConnell needs to support impeachment immediately
The corruption in this administration is rampant and unchecked. Mitch McConnell is complicit in this corruption unless he takes a stand in the Senate. He needs to support impeachment immediately.
Why is this important?
The House impeachment proceedings have unveiled the rampant corruption and greed in this administration—not to mention, the unchecked xenophobia, anti-immigrant policies, and stoking of racial hatred.
Trump’s inappropriate and unethical dealings with Ukrainian government officials for personal gain in the 2020 election is another prime example of Trump’s greed and abuse of power. As witnesses have come in front of the House Judiciary committee, it’s becoming abundantly clear that House Republicans have no excuse to not support impeachment. Otherwise, they will be complicit in the continued undermining of the Constitution by this administration.
As leader, Mitch McConnell will determine the rules of the impeachment trial in the Senate. He has, thus far, worked to undermine democratic norms by promising “total coordination” with the White House. This outrageous position ignores his Constitutional duty and the clear facts revealed by the House inquiry, which demands a full and fair trial. Mitch McConnell needs to protect democracy and push impeachment through the Senate.
It is time for Senators to get on board and support the impeachment of Donald Trump, as it is no longer a question of political division. It is a matter of protecting our democracy and making sure that our democratic norms are no longer undermined by a greedy, corrupt, and racist administration.
