We will send a letter to Congress once we reach 1,000 signatures. Our message is that semi-automatic rifles and the add-ons that allow them to become fully automatic should be banned and there should be more in-depth background checks for people trying to own guns.
Why is this important?
We are all high school students who believe that students should not have to constantly question their safety at school. There are ways that we can combat gun violence, but because many government officials receive money from the NRA, they dismiss school shootings as unsolvable tragedies.
