To: President Donald Trump, The United States House of Representatives, and The United States Senate
No Attack on Iran
We oppose any attack on Iran, as it would fail to stop Iran's nuclear program, shock the fragile global economy, kill innocent civilians, and incite regional war and global terrorism. We call upon President Obama to pursue a diplomatic solution that recognizes Iran's right to enrich uranium for civilian purposes, involves inspections to ensure that nuclear activities are peaceful, and emphasizes common interests including combating al Qaeda and drug trafficking. Diplomacy and openness, not threats and harsh sanctions, are the best way to strengthen the Iranian people and promote peaceful change.
Why is this important?
There have been repeated reports that Israel plans to bomb Iran, and Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney implies he would support such a war. A Pentagon study find that it would involve the United States in a wider regional war.
