To: The Illinois State House and The Illinois State Senate

no deal without LaSalle St Tax or graduated income tax amendment

Democrats in Illinois General Assembly should not make any deals to raise taxes on the poor or working poor (including fines) that does not include GOP support for either the LaSalle Street Tax or amending the Illinois Constitution to allow a graduated income tax.

Why is this important?

That Senate Democrats are considering shifting the tax burden from upper middle class to poor and working poor, but reducing sales tax on luxury items & replacing revenue with taxes on food & drugs... this is outrageously offensive.

Illinois is a rich state. Illinois' revenue problem is driven by the requirement (in Illinois Constitution) to have a flat tax so rich people's tax burden is kept low. This is unjust & it's bad policy.
