No Nobel Peace Prize for Trump!
Trump is angling for a Nobel Peace Prize—a distinguished award granted to leaders or organizations who broker lasting peace between nations.
Republicans have suggested that Trump’s attacks on Iran make him a candidate for the award, but potentially embroiling the United States in more endless wars shouldn’t be an award-winning act—it should be immediately disqualifying for a Nobel Peace Prize. And domestically, he’s put countless lives at risk as his administration terrorizes everyday people with inhumane mass raids, destroys our social safety nets, and sows division and hate.
Trump has caused uncertainty in the global economy and has cozied up to dangerous and corrupt leaders—he should NOT be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize.
Why is this important?
Only four U.S. presidents have ever received the Nobel Peace Prize: Theodore Roosevelt (1906), Woodrow Wilson (1919), Jimmy Carter (2002), and Barack Obama (2009). And all of them received the prize for their role in advancing diplomacy and bringing about the end to brutal wars.
Meanwhile, Trump has failed to meaningfully support Ukraine, halting aid earlier this year and taking months to finally show signs of support. And as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues—with nearly one thousand Palestinians killed just while trying to access food—the Trump administration continues to ignore the United Nations recommendations for independent aid, instead choosing to align with the Israeli government’s demands as millions of Palestinian civilians risk famine.
Potentially involving the U.S. in yet another forever war with Iran demonstrates Trump’s blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of everyday people. And that’s just the start—he’s already made hundreds of decisions that prove it, including:
- Working with Republicans in Congress to slash Medicaid and food stamp benefits
- Raising tariffs to partner countries, threatening the U.S.’s traditional allies with trade wars and causing a rise in costs that trickles down to consumers
- Deploying the National Guard against Americans to break up peaceful protests
- Using ICE to disappear people off the streets, infringing on our constitutional rights
Awarding Trump the Nobel Peace Prize would be an affront to every single American, as well as people across the globe.
