Obama and, under his direction, his administration, have chosen a path of reckless belligerence toward Russia instead of honest, transparent negotiations over the NATO-Russia confrontation in Ukraine. Obama's attempts to force Russia to unilaterally capitulate, without diplomacy, is escalating the U.S. and Russia toward the real possibility of global thermonuclear war, given the low probability of passive submission by Russia and the likelihood that one or both sides will eventually miscalculate the other's reaction. This is a manifestly insane game of international chicken which puts the entire world at risk. Ukraine is gripped by civil war in its eastern regions driven by long standing grievances between two ethnic groups. Obama and NATO have chosen to ignore this and have disingenuously characterized this conflict as an Hitlerian invasion by Russia. Obama's recklessness unnecessarily subjects the entire world to the possibility of enormous destruction and waste. We demand that Obama stop escalating the situation toward nuclear war and begin actual honest diplomacy with Russia. Too much is at stake for this irresponsible gamesmanship.
