One Million March for Student Debt Cancellation
Join us to sign up for a national march for student debt forgiveness, and tell all your friends! We cannot do it without your help!
Why is this important?
The student debt crisis is a $1.5 Trillion dollar crisis, and the government is looking the other way. Though a few candidates have addressed this issue, BOTH mainstream republicans and democrats in general are ignoring it. We would like to create a One Million March for Student Debt in order to request that they act now.
The student debt crisis should be treated as one of THE CENTRAL ISSUES of our generation. It is a unifying issue because millions of Americans of all stripes and political ideologies have student debt. It is a central issue for the economy - because the next economic crisis will be triggered by student debt. It is also an issue where it is DIFFICULT to divide the population into separate voting blocks.
This is the reason politicians and media outlets are paying MORE attention to the Mueller report and the immigration crisis than to the student debt crisis, despite its immense gravity. They would like to focus on divisive issues in order to avoid addressing our root economic problems. This helps them segment the population into separate voting blocks where the continued corruption of our government continues to prop up the same failing economy.
Many organizations, including Strike Debt (https://strikedebt.org/), student loan justice (studentloanjustice.org) and others have been working on this issue, but we need to bring it to the stage in a big way, and we need your help. Non-profits are limited in their ability to organize a massive rally, and we need to spread this to as many people as possible.
Also please note, this WILL NOT WORK without your help! Many organizations have tried, and failed to have a successful mass rally for student debt forgiveness. I have also participated in smaller actions that did not spread. I pray and hope that this time it will be different! Please commit to sending this petition to 5 people to further our efforts.
