Open Illinois Salons/One client at a time
I would like to see our Governor go ahead and allow all hair salons to open on May 1st. Giving them the ability to see one client at a time, styling chairs must be at least 6 ft away from each other, stylist can only have one client each in salon at a time. Client with next appointment stays in their car until we call or text client to tell them they can come into salon for service. If you have children they too have to stay in car with an adult if under age until time for appointment. All sanitation will be done in between clients and fresh clean capes available for each client. I think we should have the opportunity to open and serve our clients again.
Why is this important?
I feel we need to get back to work to help people feel good about themselves. I have heard time and time again...look good feel good. Right now I think we all need this in our lives. We not only do hair, we consult and sometimes we are just therapy for our clients, whom talk to us about more things than their Doctor. I also feel as a Professional we are getting left out in these times of the loans and grants offered by the Government. Not all of your hairstylist are employees, they are mainly self-employed making it hard to even setup for unemployment. I feel as a ' small business we are last on list for grants and loans also because most salons usually have less than 10 employees, which I feel we are overlooked as important but we definitely are. We need to be back to work to support our family's most of us this is our livelihopd and i think our Profession is overlooked many of times as being just a fun side job. It is not and is our way of supporting our family.
