Oppose Doubling Connecticut River Ferry Fares

We oppose the current DOT proposal to double fares on the Chester-Hadlyme & Rocky Hill-Glastonbury ferries. Instead, Connecticut DOT should consider other alternatives to increase revenues that have been proposed by members of the communities served by the two historic ferries.

Why is this important?

Connecticut Department of Transportation has proposed doubling the fares on the Chester-Hadlyme and Rocky Hill-Glastonbury ferries as of July 1. Such a dramatic price increase will undoubtedly discourage use of the ferries and result in decreased ridership, possibly to the point of actually reducing total revenues. DOT should give serious consideration to other alternatives.
