Oppose all Social Security cuts that may be included in any deficit reduction package offered for upcoming Congressional legislation.
Why is this important?
President Obama has offered the Republicans a compromise Social Security cuts deal that would cut Social Security benefits by more than 5% and leave in place some of the Bush tax cuts for the top 2% of the wealthiest U.S. citizens. This means that people like me depending upon Social Security for survival would suffer critical cuts in benefits that provide food, medicines, and other essentials.
