Opposition to Elkhart Sewer Compact
The City of Elkhart is using a Sewer Compact Agreement to have business outside the city limits pay a fee that is equal to city taxes the business would pay if they were inside the city. The problem is that these business do not receive any city services other than sewer service. Business should not be required ot pay a fee that is essentially a tax because they don't receive any city services.
Why is this important?
We oppose The City of Elkhart Sewer Compact Agreeemnt that uses Assessed Property Value in determining the fee businesses outside the city limits must pay for sewer service the City of Elkhart provides. Businesses outside the city limits should NOT be required to pay a fee that is more than three (3) times the actual sewer fee the business would pay if they resided inside the city limits.
