PA Legislators, Don't Mess with our Constitutional Rights

Victory! The creator of this petition declared the campaign a success. You can still sign the petition to show support.

SB652 is an ALEC-inspired bill designed to strip us of our Constitutional right to protest under the guise of protecting critical infrastructure including pipelines and schools. Vote NO on SB652!

Why is this important?

Yesterday, the Pennsylvania House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee voted in favor of an amended version of a Senate bill designed to quash protest. It is modeled after a sample bill written by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). Versions of the bill have shown up in at least 31 states.

The amended bill is still terrible. Links to the bill and the ALEC sample bill are below. You'll notice that, unlike the ALEC bill, the PA bill defines schools as critical infrastructure facilities, so this isn't just about criminalizing pipeline protesters.

The first opportunity for a floor vote will be on October 9th. If the amended bill passes the House, it will go back to the Senate, so we're asking you to sign this petition to all PA legislators telling them to vote NO on SB652. We have also included Governor Wolf on this petition because we are calling on him to veto the bill should it reach his desk.
