Pass the International Violence Against Women Act

The International Violence Against Women Act (IVAWA) would make ending Violence Against Women and girls globally a TOP US diplomatic and foreign assistance priority. Specifically IVAWA would
-Estabish a clear global strategy on how to combat violence and calls for collaboration with other agencies, governments and organizations
-Make the Office of Global Women’s Issues a permanent fixture in the State Department, with the purpose of directing the US’s foreign policy approach in relation to gender
-Develop Country Plans which will be comprehensive, individualized accounts that explain what Violence women face and how that Violence will be addressed in each country
-Regularly report to and brief congress on Violence Against Women and the US efforts to Prevent it.

Why is this important?

Women’s rights are human rights and we need to protect them, We have succeeded in passing the Violence Against Women Act. Now we need to let Congress and the House know that we support the passage of IVAWA, we need to be sure that the US government is helping to end violence against women and girls globally.
