Petition to end the Jones Act

The Jones Act has good goals, but accomplishes them by vastly increasing the cost of goods shipped to and from Puerto Rico & other possessions. No state has this burden, and this far along, it is also making U.S. shipping less competitive. We were a trading nation long before the Jones Act. We can be again, but not on the backs of Puerto Rico & it's citizens.

Why is this important?

Because Puerto Rico has no Senator or Congressperson, Congress mouths the word "care," maybe makes a cute heart symbol--then does nothing and goes about their business. If 2500 Texans (G-d forbid) had perished after a hurricane questions would be asked. For the Island, paper towels get thrown. Only US voters can get Congress to react. We all need to write & call.
