The private sale "loophole" makes it possible for people who can’t pass a background check to buy guns easily from unlicensed (private) sellers. This creates an unsafe situation because people who shouldn't have guns can bring them into our neighborhoods, use them and sell them to others. By providing a venue for such sales, the County is promoting an unsafe situation.
Please either allow only licensed dealers to sell at gun shows at the County Fairgrounds (and other County-owned venues) or put an end to gun shows on County property. Don’t let people who shouldn’t have guns buy them on County property.
Why is this important?
People who are unable to pass a background check can obtain guns legally at gun shows held at the County Fairgrounds by buying from unlicensed sellers (private sales). This "loophole" makes it possible for people who shouldn't have guns to bring them into our neighborhoods, carry them openly anywhere in Arizona, and sell them to others.
By allowing this to happen on public, County property, the County is promoting an unsafe situation. Tell the County Supervisors: Don’t let people who shouldn’t have guns buy them on County property!
