To: Governors who support refugee resettlement
We can't turn our backs on Syrian victims of terrorism
We cannot turn our backs on the thousands of Syrian refugees—people fleeing the same forces behind the horrific attacks on Paris and Beirut—who are living in limbo in refugee camps. As Americans, we have the ability and responsibility to continue our strong tradition of welcoming those displaced by fear of persecution and violence.
We call on you to resist the anti-Muslim rhetoric of Republican governors who are slamming the door on refugee families and make your state an example of real American values.

Why is this important?
Following the horrific series of attacks in Paris and Beirut last week, some U.S. governors have turned against the refugees who are seeking to escape the same forces behind these terrible acts of violence.
If we close our doors to these families, we're not only turning our backs on people in need, and abandoning our own moral responsibility as global citizens. We're creating the conditions that will lead to more suffering and fuel this continued humanitarian crisis.
