Our country was immeasurably enriched, not made worse, by the addition of hundreds of thousands of southeast Asian refugees, following the Vietnam War. Given our role in the Iraq War, it is only right that we should take in similar numbers of refugees from that region too.
Why is this important?
People were suspicious of Jews like my father when he came to the United States as a refugee, because Jews were all supposed to be hostile foreigners and Communist terrorists. Suspicion of Muslims, as if they're all terrorists, when in fact only a tiny percentage of them are, is just the same. 99 percent of these people just want to live and work and raise their family peacefully.
