The Illinois state budget crisis is forcing sharp reductions in senior meals programs, including Meals on Wheels. Please act to restore these vital services to seniors in serious poverty or unable to prepare their own meals due to disability.
Why is this important?
Due to the continuing Illinois budget crisis, DuPage County Senior Citizens Council announced on 01-08-2016 that the 700 - 800 very poor and/or disabled homebound seniors who receive Meals on Wheels five times a week will now receive them only twice a week. Eight dining centers which serve an additional 300 - 400 seniors will close. This bill, introduced by State Rep. Deb Conroy, will restore much-needed funding for such programs throughout the State.
